The armed drone SONGAR, developed by Asisguard, achieved a significant milestone by successfully being integrated with a rotating 6-barrel grenade launcher RDS40-MGL from Repkon Savunma Sistemleri.

This advancement represents a major step in modernizing the capabilities of armed drones.

SONGAR, known for its effectiveness in security operations, underwent a series of integration tests with Repkon’s grenade launcher. During field deployment, the drone demonstrated seamless integration with the grenade launcher, as evidenced by a successful firing test.

Barış Düzgün, General Manager of Asisguard, emphasized the company’s continuous commitment to enhancing SONGAR’s functionalities. “We are committed to improving SONGAR’s capabilities by incorporating various types of ammunition and useful payloads after its deployment to security forces,” said Düzgün. He also mentioned the development of a 2-axis gimbal to support nighttime operations, addressing customer requests in the field.

Uğur Cem Gürpınar, Director of Business Development and Corporate Communication at Repkon Savunma Sistemleri, highlighted the innovation behind the rotating 6-barrel grenade launcher. He stated that it’s the lightest in its class, manufactured with high-quality steel using the flowforming method and rifling in the barrel. Gürpınar anticipates the imminent prevalence of these automatic launchers across various aerial, land, and maritime platforms worldwide throughout 2024.
