The test took place aboard the universal landing ship TCG Anadolu, from which both the Bayraktar TB3 — a fixed-wing aerial drone — and the PIRANA unmanned attack vehicle were launched. During the operation, the TB3 functioned as a signal repeater, extending the range and effectiveness of the naval kamikaze drone’s command.

As a result of the exercise, the PIRANA successfully executed a precision strike against a 3.5-meter training target, which was completely destroyed. According to the report, the test demonstrated the system’s ability to operate at long distances in asymmetric warfare scenarios, highlighting the vehicle’s cost-effectiveness.

The PIRANA Kamikaze is a semi-autonomous maritime drone specifically designed for asymmetric combat scenarios. This development adds to Turkey’s previous advances in unmanned naval technology, such as the tests launched in May 2025 with the Arida-M — a surface interceptor drone created to neutralize similar threats.
