“Two Hürjets in the sky at the same time. Our Air Force Commander, General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, along with the Commander of the Spanish Air Force, General Francisco Braco Carbo, conducted a formation flight,” the company stated.
TAI also highlighted the significance of the Hürjet for Turkey’s military aviation:
“With every new flight, we not only elevate our goals but also write history with our crescent-star wings in the blue skies.”
The Hürjet and Its Role in Modernizing Turkish Military Aviation
The Hürjet, a light attack and advanced training jet developed in Turkey, reached a speed of Mach 0.9 at an altitude of 30,000 feet during the flight.
The aircraft was designed to replace older training jets and meet the demands of advanced training, especially with the increasing number of fifth-generation aircraft and their increasingly sophisticated configurations.
With a length of 13.6 meters (44.6 feet) and a wingspan of 9.5 meters (31 feet), the Hürjet represents a major step toward Turkey’s technological independence in the defense and aviation sectors.
Spain has announced its intention to acquire 24 HÜRJET FLIT/LCA aircraft to replace its aging SF-5M trainers.
