Following the September ceremony, the first Indigenous Defense Submarine (IDS), the Hai Kun (SS-711), remained inside the assembly site for the past few months, awaiting its launch.

For the first time since September, the public finally had a clearer view of the Hai Kun when it was transferred from the assembly facilities to the Jong Shyn No.8 on February 26th.

The submarine was launched from the floating dry dock and docked at a nearby pier for additional works.

According to Naval News, the configuration of the Hai Kung appears to be an evolution of the Dutch Walrus class with a single/double hybrid hull and some notable common features such as the X-shaped rudder.

It has 6 torpedo tubes. Official specifications have not yet been publicly disclosed (even for basic numbers such as length and displacement).
