Clearwater Police Chief, Eric Gandy, reported that preliminary investigations are being conducted, which will be later passed on to federal authorities.
The incident was reported to Clearwater Fire & Rescue at 7:08 PM local time, and emergency teams arrived at the scene seven minutes after the call. The quick response of the firefighters allowed the flames, which affected four homes, to be rapidly controlled.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the plane involved in the accident was a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35. According to the FAA, the accident occurred after the pilot reported an engine failure. Officials also revealed that the aircraft went off the radar approximately three miles north of the airport runway, where the mobile home park is located.
This accident raises concerns about air safety and the impact on residential areas near airports. Authorities continue to investigate the causes of the accident and to identify all the victims.
