The Ukrainian Air Force is conducting tests with a domestically-made glide bomb, developed as an analogue to the UMPK bomb, aimed at enabling long-range aerial attacks against Russian forces.

The “UkrAirForce” channel on Telegram released a short video documenting part of these tests.
The footage shows the Su-24M bomber in action, the aircraft selected to test the new Ukrainian glide bomb. According to the channel, the test flight was accompanied by a Su-27UB two-seat fighter, which recorded the released footage.
According to the Telegram channel, the bomber is testing a new guided bomb while the escorting fighter monitors the bomb’s release process and its subsequent glide toward the designated target.
The test was conducted in a “wing-to-wing” combat formation, requiring high concentration from the crews during the flight, as detailed in the report.
Apparently, Ukrainian engineers modified an old Soviet aerial bomb, adding an articulated structure similar to components of the Russian UMPK, used to enhance the range and accuracy of bombs. The Ukrainian version features foldable wings and an aerodynamic nose cone, improving its performance by reducing air resistance both during the flight under the aircraft’s wing and at the moment of attack.
One of the main differences observed in the video is the bomb’s tail, which includes a compartment with “X”-shaped control surfaces, suggesting the presence of a solid fuel booster or jet engine. This additional propulsion increases the bomb’s range and reduces the risk of the crew being targeted by enemy air defense systems.
