The Bulava ballistic missile, also known by its Russian name “Булава” (transliterated as “Bulava”) and officially designated as RSM-56 Bulava, is an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) designed to be launched from submarines (SLBM). It is part of the strategic armament of Russia’s nuclear forces and is intended to be carried by Borei-class submarines, which are the new generation of Russian nuclear-powered submarines.

The Bulava is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and is noted for its ability to evade missile defense systems due to its flight trajectory and maneuverability. With an estimated range of approximately 8,000 to 10,000 kilometers, the Bulava is among the most advanced missiles in the Russian strategic arsenal, capable of hitting long-distance targets with high precision.
