The footage, recorded by a Russian soldier, shows the damage caused by the explosion of an M30A2 missile on Mi-28NM and Mi-8MTV-5-1 helicopters, which were armed and refueled at the time of the strike.
During the inspection captured in the video, Russian soldiers highlight visible damage to the fuel tanks — evidenced by puddles beneath the aircraft — and multiple holes caused by tungsten balls, which are part of the missile’s explosive payload and possess high penetration power.

Mi-28NM Sustained Moderate Damage
The Mi-28NM attack helicopter, identified as “red 96”, suffered perforated fuel tanks, possible damage to the hydraulic systems, and multiple hits to the fuselage. However, thanks to armor plates, the internal systems — including the pilot and gunner seats — remained protected. The engine, shielded by additional steel plates, was also not damaged.
According to the analysis in the video, the damage is not considered critical, and the helicopter is expected to undergo restoration.

The Mi-8MTV-5-1 helicopter, identified as “red 54”, was much more heavily damaged. The missile reportedly struck the rear section of the aircraft, ripping off the cargo compartment door. Visible damage spans the entire exterior, with tank perforation and structural tearing in areas lacking armor.
Experts suggest the damage is likely fatal to the aircraft, making its recovery unlikely. Remaining intact parts may be reused as spare parts for other units of the same model.
The strike once again highlights the vulnerability of equipment stationed close to the front lines and underscores the strategic impact of guided missile systems like HIMARS in the ongoing conflict.
