A woman from Los Angeles had a devastating surprise when she found her Mercedes-Benz partially destroyed by a fire.
Alena Slapak, who shared the incident on social media, said she was on her way to work at a local market when she saw firefighters near the vehicle. They informed her that the car could still be driven, but it had been severely damaged by flames, which mostly affected the rear part. All of Slapak’s work materials were inside the car at the time of the incident.
According to Slapak, the fire was caused by a homeless encampment nearby that caught fire. Despite the scare, she stated the car still runs, although it is completely scorched. The problem, however, is that insurance will not cover the damages, leaving her without transportation and consequently unable to continue working.
The businesswoman, who runs a small handmade clothing and bikini business on her own, started an online fundraiser to try to cover repairs or buy a new vehicle. A mechanic has already estimated that repairs would cost more than the value of a new car.
With no other option, Slapak now depends on public solidarity to resume her activities and source of income.
