According to reports from Russian media, the specialists will conduct studies (referred to as post-anatomical examinations) and analyze the results to assess the actual technical-military level of the vehicle and its various systems. “We have always been and continue to be closely connected with our soldiers, and the ground forces in general are our brothers,” company representatives stated.
The Leopard 2A6 is considered one of the most advanced Western tanks, widely used by NATO countries. Its capture represents an opportunity for Russia to study a system that has been actively used against its forces since the start of the invasion.
Despite claims that Russia is conducting research on the Leopard 2, experts emphasize that Russia’s current industrial capacity is insufficient to effectively reverse engineer or replicate the tank.
The latest Russian tank, the T-90M, was developed in response to modern Western and American armored vehicles. However, analyses of Russian tanks captured by Ukrainian forces suggest that Russia still relies on foreign components and has not significantly advanced its tank production since the 1990s.
