The preliminary installation of interiors produced in Russia has been successfully completed on an experimental MC-21 aircraft at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The jet was fitted with overhead luggage compartments, window and ceiling panels, galley and lavatory modules, wardrobes, partitions, curtains, wall and door linings, as well as business class seats.
The components were manufactured by the company “Aviazhnie Interery” (Aviation Interiors) as part of a broad import substitution program aimed at strengthening the national aerospace industry with entirely Russian-made solutions.

According to Genar Shuvalov, head of the interiors and equipment department at manufacturer PАО “Yakovlev”, the installation was a success and exceeded expectations: “Specialists praised the quality of the new installation. Some components even fit better than their previously tested foreign counterparts on the same experimental aircraft.”
Representatives from the interiors manufacturer closely monitored the assembly. “The installation of the first set of interiors is an important step in our strategic cooperation with PАО ‘Yakovlev’. Thanks to this milestone, we are confidently launching the serial production of MC-21 interiors,” said Roman Ramazanov, CEO of Aviation Interiors.
In the coming months, full localization of the production of floor panels and luggage compartment panels is planned, with manufacturing to take place in the city of Ulyanovsk.
