Currently, significant resources at the Irkutsk plant are focused on delivering Su-30SM fighters and Yak-130 combat trainers to meet the needs of the Russian army and navy. In Russia, these aircraft play a crucial role in the practical training of Russian Air Force pilots.

The Yak-130 aircraft are used for training in conditions that simulate combat situations, including the conditional or real use of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons. Due to their capability to use missiles and bombs, these aircraft are actively employed to enhance pilots’ skills in dropping aerial bombs and firing unguided air missiles.

The Yak-130 replaced the fleet of Czechoslovak-made L-39 training aircraft. The first batch of Yak-130 aircraft was received by the Russian military between 2010 and 2011, when the Irkutsk plant delivered 12 aircraft of this type. Today, the Russian Aerospace Forces have more than 110 Yak-130 aircraft.
