The operation, running until July 27, is led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, and spans areas of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, as well as the Baltic and Caspian Seas.
Readiness test and new military technologies
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the main goal of the exercise is to evaluate the readiness of naval fleets and flotillas to carry out non-standard operational missions and to test the integrated use of long-range precision weaponry, unmanned systems, and next-generation military equipment.
Operations include the deployment of vessels to mission zones, anti-submarine actions, protection of coastal areas and economic infrastructure, simulations of attacks on enemy naval groups, and defense against air and maritime threats such as drones and unmanned vessels.

Impressive mobilized force
To carry out “July Storm,” the following assets were mobilized:
- more than 150 combat and support ships;
- around 120 aircraft;
- 10 coastal missile systems;
- approximately 950 units of military and special equipment;
- more than 15,000 troops.

The operation reinforces Russia’s capacity to conduct simultaneous actions in multiple maritime theaters while demonstrating the growing integration of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, and guided missiles into its naval operations.
