According to the company, the vehicles have been updated with reinforced armor, lattice screens, and structures known as anti-drone “grills” that can be quickly removed. Another highlight is the so-called “covers” – non-flammable materials that reduce the thermal and radar visibility of the vehicles.

“These improvements significantly increase the equipment’s survival capability in real combat conditions,” said Rostec in an official statement.

Combat vehicle production has also been on the rise. In just March 2025, the holding increased production by 10% compared to the first months of the year. Since 2022, the production volume of light armored vehicles has almost tripled, according to Bekkhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of Rostec’s Armaments Cluster and member of the Bureau of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia.
The BMP-3 is one of the main armored vehicles used by Russian forces and has been widely deployed in the conflict in Ukraine. The addition of anti-drone kits and thermal camouflage reflects the growing concern with new threats on the modern battlefield, especially drone attacks and high-precision detection systems.
