The Russian state-owned corporation Rostec has announced the delivery of a new batch of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles to the forces involved in the military operation in Ukraine.

The vehicles were supplied by the holding company Complexos de Alta Precisão, which also released the video of the delivery and the testing of the armored units at one of the company’s proving grounds.

According to the corporation, the delivered BMP-3s are equipped with anti-cumulative grids, armored screens, protection kits for the upper hemisphere, and an additional package nicknamed “cape”, made of synthetic thermal-insulating and radiation-absorbing materials that reduce the vehicle’s thermal signature.

Each vehicle also received electronic warfare systems.

Bekhhan Ozdoyev, industrial director of Rostec’s weapons cluster, stated that the BMP-3 remains “one of the most used and most requested platforms on the line of contact,” citing mobility, firepower and ease of operation as key reasons for the sustained demand.

He added that a coordinated modernization system was developed based on the vehicle’s direct combat experience.

Rostec states that its armored-vehicle factories operate 24 hours a day, with constant updates based on real battlefield use.

The increase in production comes amid significant material attrition in the conflict: according to estimates from international military monitoring centers, thousands of armored vehicles on both sides have already been destroyed or damaged since the start of the war, including multiple types of IFVs, APCs and main battle tanks.

The BMP-3, widely used by Russian forces, is also among the platforms that have suffered substantial losses throughout the campaign.

Experts assess that the continuous replenishment of these vehicles aims to offset accumulated losses and maintain the operational capability of Russian mechanized units.
