The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a small plane collided with a vehicle near Naples, creating a fiery debris field and closing Interstate 75.
The plane landed on the southbound lane of Interstate 75 in Collier County around 3 p.m. on Friday.

A tracking website showed that N823KD was en route to Naples Airport from Ohio. It was then scheduled to fly to Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.

The U.S. aviation regulator (FAA) and local law enforcement authorities reported that five people were on board and at least two of them died.

The plane was manufactured in 2004 and had been in operation since January 2005. It was under the responsibility of a leasing company based in Fort Lauderdale.
