The video was posted on a Chinese social media platform but quickly reached a global audience after user whyyoutouzhele (李老师不是你老师) shared screenshots and the video on X (formerly Twitter).

During the flight, the tourist captured stunning images of the Australian helicopter carrier HMAS Canberra (L02), regarded as the flagship of the Royal Australian Navy. In a daring maneuver, he landed a Chinese commercial drone Mavic Pro directly on the ship’s deck and then took off again.

Additionally, another warship, the HMAS Choules (L100), a Bay-class amphibious assault ship, was also recorded as the drone continued its exploratory flight. The final target was the Anzac-class frigate HMAS Warramunga (FFH 152), where sailors on deck finally noticed the aerial device. Upon realizing the drone’s presence, the sailors began filming it, forcing the flight to be interrupted.

In an online conversation, the tourist boasted about his accomplishment:
“I took off and landed perfectly with the help of an Australian naval deck, turned around, teased the soldiers, and evaded them. They didn’t even have drone suppressors. Hey, this is ridiculous!”

Despite the joking tone, some internet users warned about the legal implications of the action. When questioned, the tourist casually replied: “The police just said not to do it again.”

Reactions and Concerns

Experts highlight that the unauthorized use of drones over military bases can pose risks to national security and lead to legal violations. The fact that the drone landed on the deck of a military ship raises questions about the readiness of armed forces to deal with unmanned aerial threats.

In the full video, other unidentified ships of the Royal Australian Navy were also recorded during the flyover.
