The incident occurred during a training exercise known as “touch and go,” where the aircraft lands and immediately takes off again. The gust of wind caused the aircraft to lose control, veer off the runway, and overturn in a vegetation area.
Fortunately, both the pilot and the instructor did not suffer serious injuries. Maringá airport is used by several flight schools and flying clubs for training, always during hours when no commercial flights are scheduled.
The occurrence will be reported to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), but the investigation into the causes of the incident will only be conducted administratively. According to the Fire Department, the firefighters present at the airport responded to the incident around 8 a.m., without needing support from the teams in Maringá.
