“vabsRider”: Split bicycle seat returns with a new design and promises more comfort (Instagram @ataraxybsc)
The vabsRider is a bicycle seat with an innovative design, created by Australian engineer Robin Macan, who started developing the project in 2016.
Initially launched in 2024, the seat stands out for being divided into two parts, allowing each side to follow the movement of the cyclist’s legs, which helps better distribute the weight and reduce discomfort during long pedaling sessions.
Recently, the vabsRider underwent a redesign focusing on comfort and user experience. Based on tests conducted by cyclists, important changes were made, such as removing exposed seams that were causing discomfort.
The new model also features a smoother finish and a more aerodynamic shape, maintaining the concept of relieving pressure on sensitive areas of the body while cycling.
To bring the project to life, Macan received support from designer Philippe Guichard and the Australian company Whistle Design Group. The official launch of the new version is scheduled for May 1, 2025, with pre-orders available on the Kickstarter platform. The product will be sold by ataraxyBSC, the startup founded by the creator himself.
