General Dynamics Land Systems has taken another important step in the competition for the future reconnaissance vehicle of the United States Marine Corps by confirming the signing of a $450 million agreement for the Pre-Production Development (PPD) phase of the Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) program.

The contract represents a decisive advancement within the competition and paves the way for validation of the platform’s final design, as well as the construction of multiple vehicles in different variants planned for the future ARV family. After this stage, the models will proceed to a series of tests and evaluations conducted by the U.S. government.

According to the company, progress achieved in previous phases has strengthened confidence in the prototype’s performance. General Dynamics states that its ARV has already undergone an extensive series of tests and is prepared to meet — and even exceed — the requirements set by the Marine Corps.

Keith Barclay, vice president and general manager of the company’s U.S. operations, said the manufacturer will continue working closely with the Marines in this new phase to deliver a capability that could transform the force’s reconnaissance operations.

The ARV program is considered a strategic element in the modernization of U.S. Marines, especially in scenarios requiring greater mobility, situational awareness, data collection, and integration with advanced battlefield systems. The new family of vehicles is expected to enhance the force’s expeditionary capabilities and replace older platforms with more connected and modern conflict-ready solutions.

General Dynamics Land Systems is one of the leading suppliers of armored vehicles to the United States and its allies, operating in areas such as engineering, manufacturing, technology, and lifecycle support for ground combat systems.

With the new agreement, the company strengthens its position in one of the most relevant competitions in the U.S. land defense industry and moves closer to a program that could redefine the future of Marine Corps armored reconnaissance vehicles.
