The United States has destroyed four drug boats in the Pacific Ocean, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth revealed.

According to Hegseth, the attacks killed 14 people on board, while another suspect survived but was captured and handed over to Mexican authorities.

The operation took place in international waters. The destroyed ships allegedly belonged to drug cartels using this route to transport drugs to North America.

This move is part of a growing US military effort against international drug cartels that traverse the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean to reach the US.

“The goal of these actions is not only to intercept drugs but also to eliminate supply channels and destroy vehicles used by criminal groups,” the Pentagon said.

Meanwhile, the US is sending troops to strategic locations in the Caribbean. Recently, the destroyer USS Gravely arrived in Trinidad and Tobago, just 15 kilometers from Venezuela.
