The United Kingdom expects to take delivery of its 75th F-35 Lightning fighter jet by the end of 2033, according to confirmation from the Ministry of Defence in a parliamentary response released this month.

This update reinforces the long-term schedule of the program, which is considered strategic for the UK’s air and naval capabilities.

Currently, the country maintains a minimum commitment to acquire 74 F-35 aircraft, with the possibility of additional purchases in the future. By November 2025, 41 units had already been delivered, within a plan that foresaw 48 fighters by the end of that year, indicating that the immediate focus remains on completing the current batch.

Operated jointly by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy, the F-35s are based at RAF Marham and operate aboard the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers. Remaining deliveries are expected to continue through the 2030s, supporting the transition of the program to a fully operational and mature fleet.
