An underwater graveyard of cars has been discovered in the disused Powmill quarry in the UK, where hundreds of classic vehicles, such as the Ford Escort and Morris Minor, are abandoned and deteriorating underwater.
The area, located near the A977 road, is blocked by large rocks to prevent illegal dumping, but reports suggest that many of the cars found were stolen and dumped there as part of criminal activities.
In addition to cars, other items have been discovered, including rusty shopping carts and even a Japanese motorcycle.
Images of a diver at the site, shared on YouTube, show them exploring the bottom of the quarry, where various vehicles are submerged, some piled up or flipped upside down. Inside the cars, there are marine plants, algae, and objects like a radio and a CD player covered in moss.
The video also revealed other curious items, such as a trophy, something resembling an iPad, and even a weapon, adding an air of mystery to the location.
The area belongs to Devonshaw Leisure Ltd, which plans to transform it into a leisure park with cabins and RV stations. However, this proposal faces resistance from local residents concerned about environmental issues and the safety of the area, while the company’s director praises the natural beauty of the quarry and sees great potential for tourism.
