GM is sawing brand new Chevrolet Corvette C8 units in half in the United States. It may seem strange, but there is a very plausible reason for this.

It all started in 2021, when a series of tornadoes hit Bowling Green, Kentucky, damaging the Corvette production plant.

Although the factory was still operational, many vehicles were affected by the weather events, so it became clear that GM would dispose of the cars. But the method of destruction remained a mystery.

That changed recently when Brandon Woodley, the man who sawed the cars in half, shared some photos of the process in a Facebook group.

In an interview with the website Carscoops, he explained that he used a metal-blade saw to cut the supercars, a process that took about three minutes.

The halves can be sold, both to the same person, but according to Brandon, it is illegal to build a new car using both halves.

To prevent this type of construction, GM ensures that the Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) are removed. In fact, some of these cars don’t even have VINs, so they were never designed to be legally driven on the streets.

It is worth remembering that destruction of cars is not uncommon in factories. Automakers often destroy cars during testing to ensure they are in great condition before reaching customers.
