The auction, organized by RM Sotheby’s on August 16, will feature one of just 19 extremely rare Ferrari F40 LM GTC units.
This particular car, chassis number 95448, is the 14th LM produced and follows the GTC specification intended for the European FIA-GT Championship.
It was built by Michelotto based on the 1987 F40 and is one of the most powerful vehicles ever produced, boasting an impressive 760 hp — nearly 300 more than the original factory 480 hp.
This power boost is thanks to larger turbochargers, Behr intercoolers, revised camshafts, new electronic mapping, and a redesigned intake system.
Beyond the engine, the car also received other modifications, including completely reworked aerodynamics with a redesigned front spoiler, hood with large air outlets, flat underbody with Venturi effect, and a massive adjustable rear wing.
Additionally, the suspension was lowered, the brakes were replaced with a high-performance set by Brembo, and the wheels were widened and fitted with slick racing tires.
Completed in December 1992, the model was delivered to Swiss collector Walter Hagmann. Since then, it has been shown at various events and passed through multiple owners.
Now, RM Sotheby’s expects it to sell for between $8.5 million and $9.5 million. If that expectation is met, it will break an auction record, as the last F40 LM sold at auction went for €4.84 million in 2019.
