A Ukrainian UGV equipped with a heavy M2 Browning 12.7mm machine gun destroyed a Russian MT-LB armored vehicle at close range during an assault advance on the front line.

The incident, recorded by the 5th Separate Assault Brigade during tests of the robotic system, was shared by the Dnipro Proofs channel on Telegram. The quick identification of the enemy vehicle allowed the operator to open fire before the MT-LB reached Ukrainian positions.

According to experts, the armor of the MT-LB, ranging from 7 mm to 14 mm depending on the area, is unable to withstand the armor-piercing projectiles fired by the Browning, which can penetrate up to 25 mm of steel at 500 meters. Since the engagement occurred at an even closer distance, it is likely that the Russian crew suffered casualties.

The episode highlights the vulnerability of light armored vehicles against large-caliber automatic weapons, especially when operated by remote platforms.

Ukraine has rapidly expanded the use of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in logistics and combat roles. In addition to models dedicated to evacuation and supply transport, armed versions are being developed with machine guns and grenade launchers. A recent example is the Droid TW 12.7 from the 3rd Assault Brigade, which replaced an infantry position for a month and a half, demonstrating the growing relevance of these platforms on the modern battlefield.
