A Ukrainian missile-drone RAM-2X destroyed a Russian Pantsir-S1 battery at Luhansk airport after traveling over 100 km from the front line.
The attack was confirmed by the Ukrainian channel Dosye Shpiona, and satellite images analyzed by the Dnipro OSINT project show burns at the site and the disappearance of the air defense system.
A second Pantsir-S1 unit is reported to have been destroyed near the village of Snizhne in Donetsk, but this action has not yet been independently confirmed.
The RAM-2X, revealed to the public in April 2024, is an operational-tactical patrol munition with an X-shaped fuselage capable of hitting targets over 100 km away. The drone is catapult-launched, powered by an electric motor, and can carry fragmentation, thermobaric, or penetrator warheads, with the penetrator version able to pierce up to 40 mm of armor. A key feature of the system is its integrated computer vision, allowing the drone to identify and engage targets automatically even if communication is lost.
The system includes an accompanying repeater drone, essential for maintaining control and data flow over long distances, as well as for reconnaissance, target tracking, and damage assessment after the strike. This technology allows the RAM-2X to operate beyond the radio horizon and execute precision strikes deep in strategic territory, significantly enhancing the Ukrainian forces’ remote attack capabilities.
