Three North Korean M1989 Koksan artillery pieces were targeted by M142 HIMARS rocket launchers from Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
M142 HIMARS rocket launchers from Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed three North Korean M1989 Koksan artillery pieces on Tuesday (18). The equipment was operated by Russian forces.
The artillery pieces were detected by drone pilots from the 14th Separate Regiment of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces in the Kursk region of Russia. The M1989 Koksan pieces were camouflaged and protected with armor.

The artillery was targeted, but it is not yet possible to determine how much damage was caused by the attack. The M142 HIMARS fired high-explosive rockets and cluster munitions.
The North Korean equipment was first spotted in November and December 2024. The M1989 Koksan has a greater range than any of the tube artillery used by Russia on the front lines.
