A Ukrainian drone attack hit Russian helicopters at a makeshift base in the Voronezh region, located more than 150 kilometers from the front line.
The action targeted Mi-28 and Mi-17 aircraft, which were on the ground for refueling and technical maintenance at the time of the strike.
According to Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, four helicopters were at the site when the drones reached the area. The offensive was carried out by specialized units, including the 429th “Achilles” Brigade and the 43rd Artillery Brigade, in coordination with the Alpha Group of Ukraine’s security service.
According to the commander, the attacks were precisely directed at the rear section of the aircraft engines, avoiding the main rotor blades. This approach indicates a high level of planning and technical execution in the operation.
Images released after the attack show significant damage to the helicopters that were hit. In addition to the material losses, a technician responsible for maintaining the aircraft died as a result of the offensive, highlighting the human impact of the operation.
