Ukrainian drones hit strategic Russian air defense targets in eastern Ukraine, including the radar of the S-350 Vityaz system, considered one of the most advanced in Moscow’s arsenal.
The operation was carried out by the Asgard FPV group of the 412th Unmanned Systems Brigade and confirmed by Commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, who released images of the attack that took place on January 1, 2026, in the occupied Donetsk region.
The destroyed 50N6E radar is the central component of the S-350, a medium-range system capable of detecting up to 100 aerial targets simultaneously and engaging multiple threats. According to technical data, the Vityaz can engage aerodynamic targets at distances of up to 60 km and altitudes of 30 km, as well as intercept ballistic targets at shorter ranges, making its loss a significant blow to Russian air coverage in the sector.
In addition to the S-350, Ukrainian forces also neutralized launchers from the Buk-M3 and Tor-M2 systems in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors. The Buk-M3 is a key element of Russian air defense, with a range of up to 70 km, while the Tor-M2 operates autonomously and carries 16 ready-to-use missiles. These actions reduce Russia’s ability to protect troops and infrastructure against aerial and drone attacks.
