Ukrainian drone destroys Grad launcher and worsens Russian equipment losses (X @DefenceU)
An FPV drone operated by Ukraine’s Madyar’s Birds Brigade destroyed a Russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher in the Kursk region, inside Russian territory.
The attack was recorded in a video and published by the brigade commander, Robert Brovdi. The drone directly hit the loaded rockets, causing a massive explosion that likely eliminated the entire crew near the vehicle.
Analysis of the site, based on the released images, indicated that the attack took place near the village of Novoivanovka. Since the start of the large-scale war, Russia has lost over 200 Grad launchers, according to equipment loss records. Independent observers indicate that most of these launchers were completely destroyed, not just damaged.
Despite Russian attempts to protect their vehicles against drones, especially with the increasing presence of FPV drones on the battlefield, these measures have proven ineffective due to design limitations of the systems.
In March, another Ukrainian attack destroyed a rare heavy flamethrower TOS-2 Tosochka, marking only the second vehicle of this type lost by the Russians since the invasion began.
