Ukrainian naval drones carried out a new attack against Russia’s so-called shadow oil fleet, hitting two tankers near the port of Novorossiysk.
The action was confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who released footage of the moment of impact.
The operation was conducted jointly by Ukraine’s Security Service and the country’s Navy, under the coordination of the military command. According to Zelensky, the vessels hit were used to transport oil, an activity directly linked to Russia’s attempts to bypass international sanctions.
The footage shows that the drones struck critical areas of the vessels, such as the stern and the engine room, which is expected to require complex and costly repairs. Experts note that damage to this type of structure can leave ships out of operation for long periods.
This was the third attack of its kind in one week. Days earlier, drones had already struck the tanker MARQUISE, suspected of operating without tracking in order to conceal the origin of its cargo. In addition, Ukrainian forces also attacked Russian vessels responsible for securing the Crimean Bridge, increasing pressure on Russia’s strategic assets.
Our warriors continue to apply sanctions against Russia’s shadow oil fleet – two such vessels were struck in the waters at the entrance to the port of Novorossiysk. These tankers had been actively used to transport oil – not anymore. I am grateful to Chief of the General Staff… pic.twitter.com/8aCse8h95j
