Troops from Ukraine thwarted a large-scale Russian offensive in the Novopavlivka sector, where three Russian columns attempted to advance on local defenses.
The attack, carried out by units of the 425th Assault Regiment and the 20th Russian Army Corps, was halted after several enemy vehicles and motorcyclists detonated mines while attempting to cross the minefields.
According to Valentyn Manko, head of Ukraine’s Assault Units Department, the coordinated efforts of the defense forces allowed them to neutralize the offensive and inflict heavy losses on the enemy. FPV drones and artillery strikes accurately hit the Russian troops, who were concentrated in a limited area—a strategic mistake that facilitated Ukrainian counterattacks.
Ukrainian resistance prevented the invaders from consolidating positions and maintained control of the region. In recent days, Ukrainian forces also successfully repelled another large-scale Russian assault in the village of Mala Tokmachka, east of Orikhiv, in the Zaporizhzhia region.
