Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a large-scale attack against a Russian Shahed drone base installed at Donetsk Airport, an area under temporary occupation.
The offensive took place on the night of December 30 and targeted facilities used for the storage, maintenance, and launch preparation of drones employed in attacks against Ukrainian territory.
According to the commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the operation struck logistics centers, warhead depots, maintenance areas, and concentration points for technical personnel responsible for Geran/Shahed and Gerbera drones. The action was carried out by pilots from the 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Center and planned jointly with the 414th Brigade “Madyar’s Birds” and the new Deep Strike Center.
This was not the first Ukrainian attack against the site. On November 5, a combined offensive had already caused significant damage to the airport’s infrastructure. Satellite imagery confirmed the destruction of hangars used to store drones and warheads, and analysts indicate that Ukraine employed both cruise missiles and attack drones in the operations.
