Ukraine has received new Patriot air defense systems supplied by Germany, enhancing its capability to protect its airspace amid the ongoing war with Russia.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the delivery without specifying the number of units sent, and stated that air strikes continue to be Moscow’s main strategy in the conflict.

Zelensky emphasized that expanding air defense is essential to ensure the safety of the country and its allies, stressing that protection should be shared among partner nations. He noted that negotiations for additional acquisitions and upgrades are ongoing, both between governments and with the system manufacturers themselves.

The first German Patriot launchers arrived in Ukrainian territory in September, completing the second planned delivery phase. Additionally, Kyiv and Washington are discussing the purchase of 25 more systems of the same type. Currently, Ukraine operates around six Patriot batteries, capable of intercepting cruise missiles, drones, and ballistic projectiles such as the Russian Iskander and Kinzhal models.
