Ukraine has received French-made PFM motorized ferries to equip the 47th Engineering Brigade, strengthening its capability for rapid crossing of rivers and other water obstacles.
The systems, developed by the company CNIM, can be used both as floating bridges and as self-propelled ferries, increasing troop mobility in different combat scenarios.
The set consists of modules approximately 10 meters long, which can be connected to each other or operated independently. Each module supports up to 20 tons and allows the passage of wheeled and tracked vehicles. In bridge configuration, the system meets the MLC 90T standard, being capable of supporting heavy combat vehicles.
The ferries feature integrated engines, 360-degree maneuverability, and the ability to operate in currents of up to 3 m/s, as well as to overcome riverbanks up to 3 meters high.
According to the information released, a 100-meter bridge can be assembled in about 30 minutes by a team of 42 soldiers, ensuring speed and logistical flexibility for Ukrainian forces.
