Ukraine has ordered approximately one thousand military Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks from Daimler Truck, strengthening its fleet of logistical vehicles used on the front lines.
The trucks will be used for tasks such as transporting supplies, evacuating the wounded, and providing support between units in combat areas.
Designed to operate in extreme terrains, the Zetros is equipped with a six-cylinder diesel engine and can traverse mud, forests, and steep slopes. The version intended for Ukraine is being modified to cope with modern warfare conditions, focusing on higher speed, agility, and reduced visibility against enemy drones.
Daimler Truck states that some of the innovations are being developed and tested on Ukrainian soil, considered by the company as the “Silicon Valley of defense.” Over 200 trucks have already been delivered to the country, and the new contract expands cooperation between the manufacturer and the Kiev government.
In addition to Ukraine, Canada has also purchased 1,500 units of the model, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2029.
