Ukraine has received its first SHARK light aircraft equipped with an electronic warfare (EW) system to counter Russian drones. Developed by the Czech-Slovak company SHARK.AERO, the aircraft was presented during the 2025 Paris Air Show.
The aircraft is equipped with antennas and devices that detect and interfere with signals from drones such as the Shahed and Orlan models, blocking their navigation, control, and video transmission systems.
The electronic system installed under the fuselage can target drones within a 4.5 km radius from an altitude of 1,800 meters. Although some drones use inertial navigation to compensate for jamming, the SHARK can gradually disrupt their flight paths.
The aircraft has a flight endurance of up to 12 hours, a top speed of 300 km/h, and is equipped with an emergency parachute and oxygen generator for high-altitude missions.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, light aircraft represent a promising strategy against Russian drones. He stated that new models are being integrated thanks to international support. In addition, paramilitary groups and local defense forces will also be authorized to participate in the detection and neutralization of drones using their own weapons, as part of a new air defense support program.
