Ukraine has intensified its campaign against Russian maritime logistics by carrying out a new series of attacks with FP-2 drones in the Sea of Azov during the night of July 8.
According to the country’s Unmanned Systems Forces, nine oil tankers linked to Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” were hit in the operation.
Ukrainian military authorities say that, over the past three days, 21 vessels have been attacked. The tally includes 19 oil tankers used by the Russian shadow fleet, as well as a cargo ship and a ferry located in Kerch. The figures were released by the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi.

The mission was carried out by operators from the Kairos and Raid units, as well as the 1st Independent Unmanned Systems Center. According to the Ukrainian military, the goal is to reduce Russia’s ability to transport supplies to Crimea, disrupting the logistics routes used to sustain its operations on the peninsula.

The Ukrainians also note that the shadow fleet oil tankers often sail grouped in large concentrations in the Sea of Azov, making them easier to locate and increasing the effectiveness of FP-2 drone attacks. The previous night, another offensive by the Kairos unit had already hit eight oil tankers, a cargo ship, and a ferry in the same region.
