Special forces of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence carried out an attack on a Russian S-400 system radar in Crimea.
According to images released by the agency itself, a fixed-wing drone struck the 91N6 radar antenna, considered essential for detecting and tracking targets. The action, which took place on August 28, likely put the equipment out of operation.
The offensive is part of a Ukrainian campaign to weaken air defenses on the occupied peninsula, conducted by the special unit Prymary, known as the “Ghosts.” In recent months, the group had already destroyed other surveillance systems, including Nebo-SVU radars, Podlet K-1, and the advanced 98L6 Yenisei, the latter developed for the modern Russian S-500 system.
Despite attempts to protect their equipment with Soviet-era radomes, Russian forces could not prevent the losses.
The goal of the operations is to create “blind corridors” in Russian radar coverage, allowing Ukrainian drones greater range and effectiveness. With this strategy, Kyiv has carried out attacks on airbases, hitting Russian fighters and helicopters in both Saky and Kirovske.
The unit also operates on other fronts of the war, such as in Donetsk, where it destroyed S-300V missile launchers and additional radar systems.
