Ukraine attacked and destroyed the Russian A-60 aircraft equipped with a laser weapon during an attack in Taganrog, Russian territory.

According to the Ukrainian portal Militarnyi, the attack, recorded on the Telegram channel Exilenova+, took place in the early hours of Tuesday (11/25).

Witnesses indicated that the target of the attack was the G. M. Beriev Scientific and Technical Aviation Complex, along with the Taganrog-Yuzhny airfield, which serves as the company’s main testing base.

The Beriev factory specializes in the development, serial production, modernization, and repair of amphibious aircraft and aviation complexes for special missions, including the early warning and control aircraft A-50.

Also according to Militarnyi, analysts who watched the attack videos concluded that the Soviet- and Russian-made flying laboratory A-60, registration number RA-86879, was possibly destroyed during the operation.

The aircraft, a flying laboratory armed with a laser built on the Il-76MD platform, was developed to test directed-energy systems for the Russian armed forces.

The presence of the aircraft at the Taganrog facilities and its known role in laser weapons testing matches the location targeted during the attack.
