Ukraine carried out a precision airstrike on a Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) facility in the Bryansk region, using two French-made Hammer (AASM) guided bombs.
The target was a border guard post near the village of Belaya Berozka, which was completely destroyed. According to the channel Soniashnyk, which shared the video of the strike, FSB agents were inside the building at the moment of the explosion, despite prior warnings.
The Hammer bombs, supplied by France, have proven effective on the battlefield. In response to increasing demand, the French Ministry of Defense announced an expansion in the production of this weapon, with an investment of $150.3 million. A new agreement with manufacturer Safran aims to accelerate the production of the guidance kits, surpassing the initial target of 600 units by the end of 2024 by 40%.
The AASM system transforms conventional bombs into precision weapons, featuring an integrated rocket motor that enables them to hit targets up to 70 km away, depending on the launch altitude.
Available in versions for different bomb sizes, the weapon can be guided by GPS, inertial, laser, or infrared systems, offering versatility and high performance in combat.
