Ukraine Deploys Armored Ambulance Dzhura-Evac to Strengthen Battlefield Rescues (Ministry of Defense of Ukraine / X @militarnyi)
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially approved the use of the Dzhura-Evac armored evacuation vehicle by the Defense Forces.
Developed by a Ukrainian company, the model is equipped with a diesel engine, 4×4 drive, manual transmission, and reinforcements to handle difficult terrains. With a capacity for up to six people, including a driver and a combat medic, the vehicle offers protection against gunfire, shrapnel, and explosives. It also features equipment such as low-visibility lighting, ventilation, air conditioning, a surveillance system, and an automatic stretcher mechanism.
The introduction of the Dzhura-Evac aims to strengthen medical evacuation options on the battlefield, where various vehicles are already in use, from wheeled armored vehicles to robotic systems. The choice of rescue method depends on the situation and available resources, but the government believes that expanding the fleet with vehicles like the Dzhura-Evac will increase the chances of saving wounded soldiers.
The Dzhura is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 chassis and was developed by Praktika R&D. Lightweight and compact, it is suitable for lower-risk tactical missions, such as those carried out by police and special forces. With a 200-horsepower engine and 430 Nm of torque, the vehicle is known for its durability and low maintenance costs.
The first units were delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces in September 2024.
