Drones from Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces struck three Lukoil drilling platforms in the Caspian Sea, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The targets were the V. Filanovsky, Yuri Korchagin, and Valery Greifer structures, considered strategic for allegedly supporting Russian forces involved in the conflict.
Despite the impacts, data from NASA’s satellite monitoring system did not indicate any fires on the platforms, suggesting the drones may have only hit external structures without causing oil and gas leaks or explosions.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense indirectly confirmed the offensive by claiming that seven drones were intercepted in the region.
The platforms had already been attacked in December 2025 by special units of Ukraine’s Security Service, which reportedly led to a halt in operations. According to Ukrainian officials, the new strikes are intended to hinder repairs, increase damage, and extend the time required for operations to resume.
In addition to the actions in the Caspian Sea, Ukraine also announced the destruction of a Buk-M3 air defense system launcher in the Luhansk region and Russian military supplies in Kherson. These operations are part of a strategy to weaken the logistics and combat capabilities of Russian forces on multiple fronts of the conflict.
