Ukraine and Germany plan to increase production of the self-propelled artillery system Bohdana with the manufacturing of 200 more units, in a project valued at $877.5 million.
The initiative is part of a joint effort to strengthen the firepower of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amid the ongoing conflict.
According to Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Denys Shmyhal, the new howitzers will be installed on the Mercedes-Benz Zetros chassis, supplied by Germany as part of the military aid package. Simultaneously, Kyiv has also placed an order for 1,000 Zetros trucks adapted to the operational demands of the drone warfare.
Designed for missions in extreme terrain, the Zetros offers various axle configurations, ranging from 4×4 to 8×8, and supports gross weights of up to 36 tons. Daimler Truck, the manufacturer of the model, has already delivered more than 200 units to the country but has not disclosed further details on the new contract.
