The United States Marine Corps has awarded Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace an $80 million contract modification for the production of 52 remote turrets for the ACV-30 variant of the Amphibious Combat Vehicle.
If all options are exercised, the total contract value could reach $282.8 million, reinforcing the program’s progress toward sustained production. The remote turret integrates a medium-caliber gun and allows the crew to operate the system fully protected inside the vehicle.
The ACV-30 turrets are part of the modernization effort to replace the older Amphibious Assault Vehicles, offering greater mobility, protection, and operational flexibility. Designed for both amphibious and land operations, the ACV-30 provides direct fire support to maneuver units, with stabilized firing capability in various environments.
Work under the contract will be split between the United States and Norway, with completion expected by November 2028.
The ACV program’s progress also includes other key contracts, such as the $184.4 million award to BAE Systems for the production of 30 additional vehicles equipped with medium-caliber guns, along with full-rate production of the Northrop Grumman Mk44 Stretch Bushmaster automatic cannon. Integrated into Kongsberg’s remote turret, the 30mm weapon increases the Marines’ protected firepower, establishing the ACV-30 as a next-generation amphibious combat platform.
