The U.S. Army has signed a contract with Boeing for the delivery of nine additional CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters, the aviation company revealed last week.

In a statement released by Boeing on October 21, the company disclosed that it received two contracts from the U.S. Army totaling $461 million.

These contracts, Boeing revealed, cover Lots 4 and 5 and bring the total number of Block II aircraft ordered by the U.S. Army to 18.

The company also stated that it is “working closely with the Army to define a path forward for Lot 6.”

Heather McBryan, Vice President and Cargo Program Manager at Boeing, said that “the rapid succession of contracts indicates that the Chinook will continue to play a key role in the U.S. Army’s family of systems, particularly in a contested logistics environment.”
