The Turkish company Baykar has released new images showing its unmanned combat drone carrying two long-range air-to-air missiles on its internal pylons.
According to information from the Defence Blog, the company posted images on social media showing its Kızılelma drone carrying two Gokdogan air-to-air missiles, highlighting the ongoing progress in Türkiye’s efforts to develop an armed combat UAV.
The Kızılelma is a jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle designed for strike missions in high-risk areas, developed to operate as a loyal wingman alongside fifth- or sixth-generation fighter jets.
As noted by the company, the platform was designed to perform functions typically reserved for manned aircraft, including long-range strikes, entering contested airspace, and conducting cooperative operations with crewed fighters.
Baykar describes the Kızılelma as “the world’s only jet-powered UAV equipped with air-to-air missiles,” stating in its announcement that this makes the system “a true pioneer in an entirely new category of aerial warfare.”
The latest tests included what Baykar described as an “integrated flight test of the GÖKDOĞAN munition and performance test of the AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) EOTS-Murad radar.” The program is already in what the company calls the “PT-5” phase.
As the program advances through flight-testing stages, Baykar continues to present the Kızılelma as a key asset for future air operations, especially as Türkiye transitions toward greater use of autonomous systems in its defense forces.
