The event was attended by prominent figures, including the President of SSB, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Dr. Celal Sami Tüfekçi, and the Commander of the Land Forces, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, among other military and defense sector representatives.

This milestone in the TİYK-M60T Project marks a significant advance in the modernization program of the Turkish Armed Forces, replacing foreign systems in M60T tanks with domestically manufactured equivalents. A contract signed in July between ASELSAN and SSB initiated the process of nationalizing critical components.

As part of the project, the mass production of the VOLKAN-M Fire Control System, the Command and Control Tank Combat Information System, Additional Armor Protection, and Crew Seats was entirely carried out locally. The integration of these systems into the M60T tanks and related activities are being conducted at the 2nd Directorate of the Main Maintenance Factory in Kayseri.

In addition to ASELSAN, ROKETSAN also plays a vital role in the project, developing Additional Armor Guards and crew seats from T-Kalıp. With this modernization, two updated M60T tanks have already been added to the inventory of the Land Forces Command, with future plans to integrate domestic systems into other M60T tanks.

This development not only strengthens Turkey’s military capabilities but also highlights its commitment to innovation and independence in the defense sector.

The TİYK-M60T project is a testament to the growing defense industry of the country, which is establishing itself as a significant player on the global stage.
