HURJET was designed both as a light attack aircraft and a military training jet, becoming the first military jet developed and produced in Turkey. It is expected that HURJET will be officially in service by 2025, following the completion of all necessary tests. Initially, 16 aircraft will be produced, with a goal of producing two units per month.

This national Turkish project began in November 2017, when the government decided to develop a training and combat aircraft under the name HURJET. The new aircraft will replace the T-38 and F-5 models currently in use by the Turkish Air Force. In addition to the training version, HURJET will also have a light attack version called HURJET-C.

The development of the HURJET has progressed rapidly. In February of this year, the engine of the prototype was started for the first time, and in March, ground tests of the aircraft began. The production of prototypes, consisting of around 8,000 parts, was announced at the beginning of 2021.

Turkey’s impressive progress in military aircraft development strengthens its position in the global aerospace industry, with HURJET being a significant milestone in this journey.
